🛡️ Getting Started with Ledger Wallet Securely

Step 1: Unbox and Inspect

  • Make sure the Ledger device is sealed and the box hasn’t been tampered with.
  • Inside, you'll find: the device, a USB cable, recovery sheets, and instruction cards.

Step 2: Go to the Official Ledger Site

  • Open your browser and visit https://www.ledger.com/start.
  • ⚠️ Important: Only use the official website to avoid phishing scams.

Step 3: Download Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the official desktop/mobile app for:

  • Setting up your device
  • Managing crypto assets
  • Installing apps for each blockchain

Step 4: Initialize Your Device

  • Connect your device via USB.
  • Choose "Set up as new device" if it’s your first time.
  • Create a PIN code (4 to 8 digits).
  • Ledger will now display your 24-word recovery phrase.

💡 Write down your recovery phrase on the provided sheet. Never share it or store it digitally. This is your backup.

Step 5: Confirm Your Recovery Phrase

  • Ledger will ask you to verify your 24 words.
  • This ensures you’ve written them down correctly.

Step 6: Add Crypto Accounts

In Ledger Live:

  • Navigate to Accounts > Add Account
  • Select a crypto (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum)
  • The app installs the required blockchain app on your device and syncs your account.

Step 7: Receive and Send Crypto

  • Use Ledger Live to receive crypto safely.
  • Always verify the address on the device screen, not just on your computer.
  • For sending, confirm the transaction details on the Ledger device before approving.

✅ Tips for Ledger Wallet Security

  • Always use Ledger Live, never a third-party app unless verified.
  • Enable password lock in Ledger Live.
  • Keep your recovery phrase offline and hidden.
  • Avoid USB connections to untrusted computers.
